Congratulations to our delegates who attended the 2016 IIE National Student Conference this past weekend! Special thanks to the University of Waterloo for hosting a wonderful weekend. Delegates were treated to guest speakers, workshops, and plant tours. In addition, congratulations to our delegates who participated in the case study, simulation, and theoretical exam competitions. Stay tuned for photos!

Alumni Mock Interview

On Thursday, October 8, we hosted our annual alumni mock interview session. Students got the opportunity to interview with alumni and receive one-on-one feedback and help. It was a great turnout, and we hope you all gained something from the workshop. Special thanks to the alumni who took time out of their schedule to make this event a success! Saturday March 21, 2015:
IIE UofT hosted a case competition just for first year students. We provided chance for you to apply your skills and see how you compare to other first years. Students took chance to learn more about industrial engineering and prepare for the next few years of your undergrad while giving you experience you can take into industry. Cash prizes was offered to the top three teams.
Weekend of March 13-15th, 2015:
IIE UofT is hosting a 3-day Six Sigma Green Belt Training course to offer students an in-depth understanding of this statistical method and how it is applied in industry. Six Sigma green belt certified students will be equipped to collect and analyze data, specifically as they relate to processes. Topics covered include:
DMAIC, Histogram, Process Capability, Statistical Process Control, and Root Cause Analysis.
Weekend of November 14-16th, 2014:
IIE UofT is hosting a 3-day Lean Green Belt Training course to offer students an in-depth understanding of the lean concepts and how they are applied to optimize process flows. As a lean green belt, students will be equipped to map process flow and identify activities that add value from a customer’s perspective. Topics covered include:
5S and muda, Point of use, Pull, SMED, Value-added Value stream mapping, 7 Wastes, Visual Workplace.

IIE hosted a mock interview event featuring 8 University of Toronto industrial engineering graduates.
Each student will had the chance to be interviewed by one of the Alumni for 30 minutes to be followed by 15 minutes of feedback.

Citrix held an Information Session for fourth year students in room SF3202. First Citrix would tell you more about the company and what they can offer you. After you would get the chance to network with Citrix representatives. They have hired several Indy students in the past and are looking to do the same this year.

We are honored to have the opportunity to host Dr. Robert Howard, President & CEO of St. Michael's Hospital.
This event was a wonderful networking and professional development opportunity, as undergraduate/graduate students and faculty from both UofT and Ryerson, along with industry professionals in Toronto have been invited.
Dr. Howard is a well-respected cardiologist and known in the health care world for his leadership in quality improvement. He has made it the cornerstone of the St. Michael’s Hospital’s strategic plan, and his work in this area is setting the benchmark among the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) and across Ontario.
Under Dr. Howard's leadership, St. Michael's opened the Keenan Research Centre and the Li Ka Shing International Healthcare Education Centre, that together form the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute. This innovative facility brings the worlds of health sciences research and education together to advance patient care.
Dr. Howard has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, a Medical Degree from McMaster University and an Executive MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, and is a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto.
Dress code: Business Casual (Mandatory)

The Deloitte Mini-Series are back, and revamped for an exciting first round this year!
The three sessions will be taking place on September 17, September 24, and October 1 in the evening.
Space is limited to 50 students. Space is not guaranteed upon application. Selected applicants will be required to attend a short interview, and will eventually be notified via email if they have been selected to attend the courses
